I’m Richard, a retired software executive and startup technology consultant. But I have always wanted to be a writer. I was a creative writing major at Harvard, including a graduate creative writing course. I wrote a bunch of stories, all on a typewriter, and I lost those paper copies somewhere along the way. I’ve written various other stories over the years, but never published any of them. Reading Taylor Jenkins Reid’s recent three novels (Malibu Rising, Daisy Jones and the Six, and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo) convinced me it was time to create this website, list some of my stories, and finish my first novel.
I’m also a diehard Swiftie.
This site includes reviews of my favorite TV shows and movies, and my personal experiences in recovery. I will include links to my favorite Carolyn Hax articles in The Washington Post, with her permission.
I worked with software startups for thirty years, usually as the SVP of Engineering or the Chief Technology Officer. Most of those companies I “turned around” so they sold successfully within a year or two; some I shut down when I found the flaws or misrepresentations that the previous CEO or Software VP had hidden. I no longer work full-time, but am open to work evaluating your business plan, creating investor presentations, hiring your tech team, and perhaps helping to restructure or sell your company.
